Wiwen Nilsson (1897 - 1974) was one of the most celebrated Swedish silversmiths of the 20th century, known for his use of geometric lines and brushed silver. Born Charles Edwin Nilsson on May 19, 1897 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the son of the silversmith Anders Nilsson, he apprenticed with his father early on in life, creating jewelry, silverware, tableware, and sculpture.
Nilsson made his debut at the Gothenburg Exhibition in 1923, where his clean-cut, modern designs were wildly successful. He went on to have exhibitions at the Röhsska Museum, and the National Museum of Denmark. Nilsson died on January 8, 1974 in Lund, Sweden.
